How does the planning process work?

When you contact me via email or phone, we will either set up a time and place to meet, or elect to plan your ceremony over electronic communication (telephone, email, or Skype). I have no preference; you may choose whichever method of planning you prefer. I will ask you a few preliminary questions (such as your religious and cultural backgrounds) that will help me narrow down the selection of material I will present to you for your wedding.

 

If we decide to meet in person, generally only one consultation is necessary. Meetings usually last 2-3 hours, during which we will decide what your wedding is going to look, sound, and feel like, from the opening words to the pronouncement. I have a large selection of ceremony readings, rituals, and texts, spanning all corners of the globe and ranging from humorous to solemn, straightforward to achingly romantic. I will also get to know you as a couple and individuals, in order to further customize your ceremony to your tastes.

 

If you prefer to plan your ceremony over email or telephone, there is no limit to how often we communicate with each other.

 

After all the ceremony elements are decided upon, I will type up and email a "script" to be submitted for your approval. At that point, and at any point thereafter, you may request changes to your ceremony. I have made adjustments to ceremonies as late as 5 minutes before the wedding, so don't be afraid to ask for changes! If I feel I need more information at this point, I will request it.

 

I do not require a wedding rehearsal, but if you would like me to be present at yours, please let me know!

 

How much does this cost?

I charge a flat fee of $250, which includes planning and performing your ceremony (and your rehearsal, should you choose to have one), travel costs,  and signing and mailing your marriage license.

 

A deposit is not required to hold the date, and I accept payment at any time up until the day of the ceremony. Fees can be paid in installments if necessary. I accept check or cash.

 

Are there discounts available?

If you and/or your partner are active duty military, have been honorably discharged, or were dishonorably discharged under DADT statutes, a 20% discount off the final total is available.

 

If you are facing a financial hardship, discounts are available at my discretion.
